The Brazilian Navy launched, on Tuesday (27), the first prototype of the National Antinavio Surface Missile (MANSUP), 300 km off the coast of Rio de Janeiro.
In the test, it was possible to confirm the correct functioning of several subsystems and the need for improvement in some. The data of its flight behavior were recorded through telemetry, also developed in Brazil, and, after analyzed, will guide the next steps and launches.
The MANSUP is 5.6 meters long, weighs about a ton and reaches 1000 km / h in less than seven seconds.
This Strategic Project was started 10 years ago in partnership with the national companies: AVIBRAS, responsible for the propulsion; SIATT, which develops the system of guidance, control and telemetry; OMNISYS, which performs the target detection radar design; and the EZUTE Foundation, which assists in coordinating the necessary work.
The data obtained with this launch will allow to continue the evolution of this project developed with exclusively national technology, which will put our country in the select group of missile manufacturers of this size.
